mmm...something

great weekend 'up north' with Aaron, Adam, and Beanie. I taught myself how to operate the monoski and feel very accomplished.

tonight, as our entrees were being served, Jon asked if the establishment did anything special for birthdays. the waiter replied that a free sundae was in store for me if I showed identification. upon giving it to him, he asked if I needed to see a menu, but I knew I wanted the hot fudge brownie sundae and told him so. then, to our surprise, he brought the sundae out as we were just starting our meals and placed it in the middle of the table. we all just sort of looked at each other in amazement. anyway, it was a bit melty but still good.

later in the evening, we visited a local barroom where a free tollhouse sundae is given to birthday persons. they were out of ice cream and whipped cream, but I got a freshly (and slowly) baked cookie covered in hot fudge. I'm very full.

all in all a very nice birthday. thank you to all of the well-wishers!

lots of love,

hacking NAIAS

while walking through the Ford exhibit at this year's North American International Auto Show, I noticed a computer screen. the display, titled 'Truth About Trucks', featured components from competitors' vehicles compared to Ford's to show their relative toughness. someone apparently managed to get this PC out of kiosk mode and start up a game of solitaire. here's a close-up, I would have taken one without the flash but someone from Ford noticed me snapping the first two and came over to see what was what with the screen. I just hope their onboard computers are a bit 'tougher' than whatever kiosk software they were running.
